Rakai district is where the first case of HIV/AIDS was discovered in Uganda in the early 1980s. While some children are infected with the HIV virus or living with AIDS, others are affected when their parents and siblings die from AIDS. Since then the impact of the disease has been so devastating the entire community. Despite all effort by government and non-government Organisations, the HIV/AIDS prevalence rate in the District remains the highest in the country.
In all our programs, we have activities to educate people about the deadly disease, its effect, how to avoid it and how to extend your life if you already have it. We are always struggling to prevent the transmission of HIV/AIDS through education along with counseling and support to those who are infected. We also rehabilitate RODI assisted children who have lost a parent to AIDS or who are infected with HIV/AIDS. These activities do not discriminate any one.
